Join us for Cooking Day Camp – Battle of the Breads!
Looking for a FUN way for your youth to learn cooking skills, gain insight into healthy eating habits, and spend their Wake County teacher workday in an educational environment? Register your youth for Cooking Day Camp!
“Battle of the Breads” is an exciting Day Camp session that teaches participants the art and science of bread making. Through a hands-on approach, students will learn how different types of flour and ingredients come together to create delicious and unique breads with varying characteristics. Campers will also tour and harvest from the Poe garden, learn to chop their own seasonal veggies, and prepare a healthy, tasty soup for lunch.

COST: $25 per participant*
*Cost of each ticket includes all materials and lunch. Each session is held on upcoming Wake County teacher workdays, has a different theme, and includes all materials and lunch. All sessions will teach kitchen safety, knife skills, and preparing healthy recipes.
Upcoming Cooking Day Camp Sessions!
February 20, 2024, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. – “Taco Tuesday” is an exciting Day Camp session that teaches participants how to prepare delicious homemade tacos. Through a hands-on approach, campers will learn how to make turkey and vegetarian tacos, make and try a variety of salsas, prepare their own tortilla chips, and practice knife safety skills.
March 11, 2024, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. – Poe Camper Cook-Off! – Camp chef groups work together to compete in a food prep challenge. Participants will be provided with a variety of ingredients and get creative with cooking. Taste testing to follow.
